Bostik to Launch New Anti-Fog Heat Seal Coatings

Bostik, a leading global adhesive specialist for industrial, construction and consumer markets, is proud to announce it will launch new copolyester, anti-fog heat seal coating formulations for food packaging applications at this year’s PACK EXPO in Chicago, Illinois October 14 – 17, 2018.

Of particular note, Bostik’s newest innovation in copolyester heat seal, Vitel® 1922AF, is a 100% solids formulation designed for PET lid stock. A complement to other copolyester heat seal products in their range, 1922AF was formulated to be used in refrigerable applications to reduce fogging from moisture-containing food products. With low blocking and good slip properties, this anti-fog heat seal coating features excellent clarity and seal strengths, providing a smooth yet strong peel from PET tray stocks once sealed.

Additionally, 1922AF is designed to help streamline manufacturing processes. By incorporating anti-fog additives into the formulation, Bostik’s anti-fog heat seal coating helps converters eliminate the need for a second processing pass to add an anti-fog coating. While Vitel 1922AF is designed for extrusion and coextrusion processes, Bostik’s ability to formulate similar solvent-based solutions offers the flexibility to address specific customer processes while reaping similar processing benefits.

“By understanding consumer needs for extended food freshness and enhanced product visibility coupled with converter needs for streamlined processes, Bostik saw an opportunity to develop anti-fog heat seal coatings that successfully address common issues while improving overall packaging performance and aesthetics,” said Corey Schoenherr, Business Development Manager. “
