Understanding Water-Based Acrylic PSAs and Their Smart Solutions

Water-based acrylic pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) are one of four main types of PSAs. Ideal for tape, label, masking and specialty packaging applications, learn more about these PSAs and their smart solutions.

Understanding Water-Based Acrylic PSAs

Acrylic is a common type of PSA technology. Typically cross-linked to yield improved cohesive strength, acrylic PSAs can be either solvent or water-based and modified to alter adhesion properties.

When formulated into water-based PSAs, these adhesives:

  • Produce little emission when cured
  • Are fast to run when coating

Water-based acrylic PSAs also can be both permanent and removable, possessing high tack and peel strength as well as good mechanical stability. Relatively firm and durable, water-based acrylic PSAs also offer improved worker safety over solvent-based acrylic PSAs and streamline production processes.
